PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To augment the moment of inertia and thereby, to improve the directivity so that a ball can be easily driven skyhigh by protruding the peripheral parts of either of at least, the toe, heel, sole sides of a face part, and the crown or the top side from the ball hitting face part. SOLUTION: The peripheral parts of the toe 2 side and the heel side of a face 1 part, and the crown 4 side of the head of a wood club are protruded from the ball hitting face part. The protrusion length of the peripheral part from the ball hitting face part 10 is, for example, set to the limited range of 5-3mm. This ball hitting face part 10 may be molded in one piece with the head when the head is cast or forged with a metal material or may be later fitted into the head after only the head is molded in a different material. In this case, if the ball tends to be sliced by the protracted swing of the head, it is recommended that either the peripheral part of the toe 2 side be protruded or the distributed weight of the protruded part be heavier than that of the other protruded part.
|
