PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide automatic method and device for retrieving information based on a user definition profile (for instance, personalized newspaper). SOLUTION: A user control client realizes communication with a stateless server 150 and a user presents the list of options to a client between the server 150 and the client. The client executes the identification of the user definition profile 410. The server 150 is involved in a first application program 400 and the first application program 400 retrieves the user definition profile 410. At the time, the user definition profile 410 discriminates information interesting to the user. The first application program 400 retrieves the data base of the information and automatically retrieves one sub set of the information from the data base based on which information the user is interested in corresponding to discrimination performed in the user definition profile 410.
