PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract the oil and fat components of an animal bone, a fish body, etc., in a simple manner by treating the components in a closed treating tank with the vapor generated from a chlorinated organic solvent and water. SOLUTION: An animal bone, a fish body, etc., is sealed in a closed treating tank, and it is exposed to the vapor generated from a chlorinated organic solvent such as methylene chloride and water to extract the oil and fat components of the animal bone, the fish body, etc., at a low temperature under a high pressure. Optionally, it is treated with the vapor generated from a three-components system consisting of a chlorinated organic solvent and water together further with a surfactant. From the defatted animal bone is obtained bone meal useful for a phosphorus fertilizer, and from the defatted fish body is obtained fish meal free from fish smell. This process also produces animal fat and oil or a fish oil in a large amount. |
