PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a weed-killing composition capable of effectively killing various weeds with synergistically increasing the effect and applicable in a small dosage by combining a specific picolinic acid derivative with a specific sulfonyl urea derivative. SOLUTION: (a) A picolinic acid derivative of formula I (R is dialkylamino, an alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, H, an alkali metal, etc.) is co-used with (b) a species of sulfonyl urea derivative selected from nicosulfuron of formula II, primisulfuron-methyl of formula III, rimsulfuron of formula IV, halosulfuron- methyl of formula V, prosulfuron, flumetsulam and thifensulfuron-methyl. In the composition, a mixing ratio of (a)/(b) is within the range of (1/0.1)-(1/5) in a weight ratio. Its applying amount is usually 5-200g of active component- containing amount per 1 hectare. The composition is especially suitable for killing weeds in a corn field. Furthermore, the composition is effectively applicable to a new cultivation such as a non-tilled cropping. |
