PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a crosslinkable acrylic emulsion which has good long-term storage stability, gives a film excellent in water resistance and is useful as a base emulsion for, e.g. a coating composition. SOLUTION: This ethoxysilylated acrylic emulsion is obtained by the emulsion polymerization, in the presence of a reactive surfactant, of a monomer mixture consisting of 50-99wt.% 1-18C alkyl (meth)acrylate (1), 1-20wt.% component (2) comprisingγ-(meth)acryloxypropylmethyldiethoxysilane and/orγ-(meth) acryloxypropyltriethoxysilane, and 0-30wt.% monomer (3) copolymerizable with components (1) and (2), and the obtained copolymer has an average molecular weight of at least 50,000.
