PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency of soaking pits and to prevent the decrease in the yield of products by rolling the steel ingots heated in the soaking pits of the blooming plant of ironworks to slabs with large sized rolling mills in a large size plant thereby making effective use of said soaking pits. CONSTITUTION:The rolling line of the blooming mill 2 of a blooming plant 1 and the soaking pits 4 provided in plural units in a blooming and soaking mill 3 are disposed in the shape of, for example, T. The ingots heated in the pits 4 are made conveyable to the rolling line of the large size rolling mill 8 of a large size plant 7 as well besides the conveyance to the mill 2, by the ingot conveyance line 5 using ingot buggies 6. Thence, the ingots heated in the pits 4 are conveyed directly or through a heat insulating pit 10 to the mill 8 by the line 5. Said ingots are passed through the mill 8 and subsequent rolling lines such as universal mills, whereby, billets, rough shape steel, etc. are produced. |
