The service transmits a video film from a video server (VOD) to a video telephone (TEL). The video server and the video telephone are connected together via a Integrated Service Digital Network (ISDN). The video server is dialled up by the telephone by constructing a dial connection. A video film is then selected from a supply of films, via the telephone. The selected video film is transmitted to the telephone from the server via the dial connection. The video server has a transmitter (SEN), a receiver (EMP), a control unit (CTRL) and a memory (MEMO). Several video films are stored in the memory. Individual films can be selected from the memory via the control unit (CTRL) and are fed to the transmitter (SEN). The transmitter (SEN) and receiver (EMP) can be connected to the network (ISDN). A stored video film is selected in dependence on the signal received by the receiver (EMP) and is transmitted by the dial connection. |
