Electronic direction indication system

The guidance system consists of bar code or magnetic card readers installed at logistically important orientation or crossing points. The readers are computer controlled. The sign is activated by a bar code or magnetic strip card or ticket to show a direction arrow on the floor, indicating the shortest way to the next information point or destination. In the case of a ticket, bar code data is used to indicate exits and gates. The reader connects with a controller that activates display units set in the floor. The display is a matrix of LCD devices and displays direction arrows. In emergencies, e.g. fire, the reader remains activated for the emergency services or indicates the nearest emergency exit.
