<p>An electro-optic, noncontact, interior cross-sectional profiler (a 'probe') an method of using the probe (10) to determine the physical characteristics, such as interior dimensions, of an interior surface of a tubular structure, such as a pipe, tubing, gun barrels and the like. The probe (10) utilizes a disc of unfocussed light (17) to illuminate a cross section of the interior surface to a photodetector array (20), where the images can be evaluated. The probe is useful for off-line (or 'in-line') processes, such as extrusion process.</p> |
