A device for connecting at least one first and one second optical fibre by placing the end surfaces of the fibres in facing positions. The device comprises a control member (11) for controlling a fibre pressing portion (6, 7), said control member being actuatable from outside the device to move the pressing portion from the insertion position to the locking position, or vice versa, and lock said portion at least in the locking position.
