More reliable monitoring for fluff etc. of a moving flat thread array

A method for monitoring a moving array (1) of threads entails leading the array over guide rods (11, 12) before and after a monitoring point, directing at least one light beam (6) across the array path, parallel to its plane and onto photo-receptors (10) and analysing and recording the receptor signals by means of an electronic processing unit. At least four receptors (A, B, C, D) are installed where at least two (A, B or C, D) are placed one after the other in the direction of thread travel and at least one pair (A, C or B, D) is set one above the other, one being above and the other below the array plane. Also claimed is appts. for method implementation comprising light source (3) and photo-receptors.
