Simple, widely applicable thread brake used in textile machinery

A thread brake has two pref. disc or dish shaped braking elements (13, 14) which press flexibly one against the other by means (28, 29) of magnetic tightening and between which at least one thread (23) is led. These elements are mounted on bearing media (19, 21, 22, 27) with a common axis (12) around which they are free to rotate. Only one of the brake elements is furnished with a magnetic tightening piece (28) while the other magnetic tightening piece is separate from the brake elements, adjustable and placed so that one element is pressed against a stop (27) separate from the elements. Also claimed is the application of the thread brake as a substitute part where one or more brake elements with tightening means and an adjustment unit (31) with tightening means can be installed on an existing axis and exchanged if needed.
