Arrangement of butterfly valve in exhaust gas passage of internal combustion engine

The butterfly valve spindle is mounted in radial bearings located on both sides of the exhaust gas passage. The spindle is spring-loaded to an axial bearing (9). The bearing is formed by a conical shoulder on the valve spindle and a correspondingly formed bearing disc (11) which is axially supported against an axial wall (12) rigidly installed in the housing. The axial wall and bearing disc both have good sliding characteristics.
