PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the wrong use of a forged card and to improve the reliability of security. SOLUTION: A point card reader 11 of a POS terminal 1 reads the management number out of a point card 2 and sends it to a host device 3. When the device 3 decides that the received management number is registered in a card data file, the device 3 sends the corresponding password number to a password number decision control circuit 12. If the management number is not registered in the card data file, the device 3 notifies the circuit 12 of a fact that the card 2 is wrong. The circuit 12 compares the received password number with that received from a keyboard 14, etc. When the coincidence is confirmed between both password numbers, a POS terminal processing circuit 13 performs the addition/subtraction processing to the total point stored in the card 2. Then the circuit 13 performs the wrong use processing of the card 2 if the coincidence is not confirmed between both password numbers. When the notification of the wrong card is received, the circuit 13 erases the information on the card 2. |
