PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a joint material resistant to the melt abrasion, loss and dissolution even by the exposure to foreign matter such as sulfuric acid or sulfate compound over a long period by compounding (A) slaked lime and/or alumina cement, (B) electric glass (Serpen) and/or mullite and (C) sodium silicate or sodium phosphate as a binder at specific ratios. SOLUTION: The amounts of the components A, B and C are 10-40wt.%, 60-90wt.% and 1-30wt.%, respectively. A curved joint or a straight joint of the hearth of a melting furnace for an alkali salt reaction has the following structure. A conventional joint material is used as the back side of the joint, the component A having particle diameter of <=0.3mm, the component B having particle diameter of 0.5-3.0mm and a binder are used at the inside of the furnace and the depth is set to 1/5-1/4 of the total joint. The drawing shows the magnification of the joint. The infiltration of an alkali salt or an acid solution is prevented and the expansion stress of brick 6 is absorbed by the joint material 5 of the present invention. The conventional joint material 4 (3 is ordinary mortar) reacts with infiltrating sulfuric acid liquid to form a stable sulfate compound. |
