PURPOSE: To obtain a new agent easy to use, presenting antiallergic action through oral administration, containing, as active ingredient, a multiple compo nent obtained by subjecting fresh cedar leaves or a treated product thereof to hot water extraction. CONSTITUTION: This agent contains, as active ingredient, a multiple component obtained by subjecting fresh cedar leaves or a treated product thereof to hot water extraction. It is preferable that the hot water extraction be conducted at >=80 deg.C for several hours under gentle agitation. The resultant extract is pref. either made into a concentrate by evaporation under reduced pressures or lyophilized. For example, such an amount of water is added to fresh cedar leaves as to be enough to immerse the leaves followed by conducting a hot water extraction at 90 deg.C for 2h under gentle agitation and then concentration under reduced pressure and lyophilization successively. The resultant multiple component comprises 6.5wt.% of crude ash, 24.4wt.% of crude proteins, 8.9wt.% of crude lipids, 19.5wt.% of crude fibers, 40.2wt.% of carbohydrates, and 0.5wt.% of ergosterol. It is the easiest way for the oral administration of the multiple component to serve as a food/beverage. |
