PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a down-sized air bag device by reducing heat resistance and thickness required for an air bag through a process of making an edge part of a gas receiving port of the air bag to turn around an open port of a case to be arranged on an external surface of the case so as to be stuck and fixed to the external surface. SOLUTION: When an automobile makes collision, an inflater 18 makes its gas ejecting operation so that an air bag 10 may start its development and a lid 16 is opened and cracked along its tear line by being pushed by the air bag 10, resulting in development of the air bag 10 inside of a cabin. In this case, since a flap 32 of the air bag 10 is drawn out to the external surface from an open port of case 12 and attached to the case 12 on this external surface, any gas coming from the inflater 18 is not brought in direct contact with the flap 32. Therefore, a temperature applied to the flap 32 becomes lower than a conventional one, resulting in a heat resistance required for a basic cloth of the air bag 10 lower and thickness of basic cloth therefor smaller. |
