PURPOSE: To provide an optical fiber amplifier capable of efficiently and accurately controlling the emitted light wavelength of an LD. CONSTITUTION: This optical fiber amplifier 40 multiplexing exciting light with signal light transmitted through an optical fiber 42 so that the signal light is amplified is provided with an exciting light generating means 48 equipped with a light emitting element 62 whose emitted light wavelength is changed according to temperature and a temperature control means 64 controlling the temperature of the light emitting element 62, an optical demultiplexer means 52 demultiplexing the exciting light from the multiplexed signal light and exciting light, a detector 58 detecting the intensity level of the demultiplexed exciting light, and a control unit 60 controlling the means 64 based on output from the detector 58. |
