PURPOSE: To obtain a data interpolation apparatus optimum for an audio system or the like, by approximately interpolating data which have not been able to be corrected by an error-correcting circuit with a relatively simple operation algorithm and reproducing a smooth continuity of data. CONSTITUTION: Difference of two data before an error data E(i), i.e.,ΔD(i-2)=D (D(i-1)-D(i-2) and difference of two data after the error data, -ΔD(i+1)=D(i+1)-D(i+2) are obtained. Then, 1/2. i-1)+D(i+1)+ΔD(i-2)-ΔD(i+1)} is operated. The result of the operation is taken as interpolation data for the E(i). When two-eight pieces of consecutive error data are generated, the operation algorithm is extensively applied, thereby to obtain an interpolation data with preceding and succeeding changes of data taken into consideration. Moreover, an appropriate interpolation data is obtained with preceding and succeeding change rates of data taken into consideration when the error data becomes a maximal or minimal value.
