Vice-grip pliers (1) arranged in such a way that the toggle joint (8) cannot go beyond alignment with its three points but is locked slightly behind said alignment by the engagement of a projection (30) on a finger (28) supported by a lever (10) over a tooth (19) on the front end of a link rod (13). The finger (28) forms a trigger (28A) for controllably opening the pliers after releasing the lever (10).
