The device has a drying chamber (1) which can be heated and vacuum sealed. The drying chamber is in the form of an annular chamber (6) extending around a hollow core (7). The plates (3) to be dried are arranged in a separate tubular carrier (2) which can be introduced into the chamber. An electrical heating device mounted in the hollow core of the drying chamber contains at least one heating element (11) and a ventilator (13) which circulates the air inside the hollow core. The heating element can be a spiral element inside a central tube through which the air is passed by the ventilator.
