METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECORDING DATA ON COCKPIT VOICE RECORDER

A spare voice channel on a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) (22) is used to record flight data. Data from an accelerometer (20) and other sensors (10, 12, 14, 16) in an aircraft are digitized and collected by a sensor interface module (18) once each second and are correlated and arranged in an industry standard format, and converted into an industry standard code for recording on the CVR (22). During transmission of data to the CVR (22), fresh data is collected for the next transmission.
