The armour plating has a series of explosive charges mounted on its exterior surface in association with parasite-type bodies. A pair of plates (1,2) separated by a space (6) are each provided with internal explosive charges (3,4) which are linked by a pyrotechnic connector (5). One or both of the charges located within the plates is associated with parasite bodies (7) within the thickness of the plate. The charge in one of the plates may comprise a single thin layer of pyrotechnic material as opposed to a series of separate individual charges. The space between the two plates, which is of a width between 20 and 70 cm, may be filled with a foam material.
