The scraper (1) acts via a pressure roller (15) on the vertical chain members (7) and the chain carriers (12) of the chain (5) so that the horizontal chain members (6) come out of the sprocket at the tight time. The pressure roller is fitted relative to the roll bearing (19) and setters (25) so that it can be adapted to different conditions. The carrier is mounted at a tangent directly on the sprocket. The pressure roller can lift the horizontal chain members out of engagement with the wheel teeth, preferably immediately on the far side of the centre line of the chain.
