PURPOSE: To obtain a binder composition, comprising a specific compound containing a polyiminoethylene group in a resin latex, capable of sufficiently manifesting temperature-sensitive gelation properties and imparting excellent gloss, printability and water resistance to a coated paper and excellent in the water resistance. CONSTITUTION: This thickening composition comprises (B) a compound capable of reversibly changing the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity at a constant temperature as a boundary and containing >=50wt.% polyiminoethylene group [e.g. a (co)polymer of a vinyl monomer having polyiminoethylene group such as polyethyleneimine mono(meth)acrylamide] in (A) a resin latex (e.g. a styrene- butadiene-based resin latex obtained by carrying out the emulsion copolymerization with an acrylate or a methacrylate having an anionic group and a polyoxypropylene chain as an emulsifying agent). |
