PURPOSE: To obtain a detergent composition which causes only a reduced skin irritation, is excellent in foaming properties, is good in the touch after washing, and can assume readily pearly color by combining a soap, a polyethylene glycol, and an alkanolamide-type surface active agent in specific proportions. CONSTITUTION: This detergent composition contains 5-60wt.% in total of the following components (a)-(c): (a) 3-50wt.% of a higher fatty acid salt of the formula R<1> COOM<1> (wherein R<1> is a straight-chain or branched 7-21C (un)saturated hydrocarbon group that may contain hydroxyl group(s); and M<1> is an alkali metal, ammonium group, or the cationic residue of an organic amine); (b) 0.1-10wt.% of a polyethylene glycol of the formula HO-(CH2 -CH2 O)n -H (wherein (n) is 10-500); and (c) 1-10wt.% of an alkanolamide-type surface active agent of the formula (wherein R<2> is a straight-chain or branched 7-21C (un)saturated hydrocarbon group that may contain hydroxyl group(s); (o) and (p) are each an integer of 0-4 and at least one of them is not 0). |
