PURPOSE: To protect the metallic luster of the surface of a stainless steel material and to obtain a steel sheet excellent in scuffing and contamination resistances and designability. CONSTITUTION: A chemical coating film is formed on at least one face of a stainless steel sheet by applying and drying a chemical treating soln. contg. phosphoric acid and silica and a transparent colored coating film of 2-50μm thickness is formed on the chemical coating film by applying and drying a coating material contg. an org. acrylic polymer, an inorg. siloxane polymer, a curing agent and a dye soluble in an org. solvent.
