PURPOSE: To smoothly change a change gear ratio, by setting down shift quantity with a change gear ratio at the time of a control entry into the forced down shift control, and with a deceleration by a deceleration calculating means at the time of a control entry into the forced down shift control at the time of forced down shift control. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a continuously variable transmission 2 for relatively increasing/decreasing the rotation radius of a belt 14, wound on driving and driven pulleys 10 and 12, by the rotation of a speed changing motor 68. A speed changing motor 68 is forced down shiftingly controlled by an ECU 98, so that the function of the motor 68 is to be set to a change gear ratio full low position at the time of the stop of a vehicle. A change gear ratio and deceleration, at the time of control entry into this forced down shift control, are calculated, and also down shift quantity for forced down shift control is set by a change gear ratio and deceleration at the time of control entry into forced down shift control. Moreover, after control entry into the forced down shift control, control is made so that down shift quantity can be reduced according to the lapse of time. |
