PURPOSE: To eliminate background fog and to enhance color forming sensitivity and the storage stability and chemical resistance of an image by using an electron donating colorless or light-colored leuco dye, a ferric salt of fatty acid and a specific salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof as color forming components in the thermal recording layer of a thermal recording material. CONSTITUTION: An electron donating colorless or light-colored leuco dye, a ferric salt of fatty acid and a specific salicylic acid derivative represented by formula (wherein X1 and X2 are a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group and R is an alkyl group or the like) or a metal salt thereof are used as color forming components in the thermal recording layer of a thermal recording material. Since color development excellent in the storage stability and chemical resistance of an image is obtained by this constitution, the thermal recording material putting characteristics of a leuco dye type and a chelate compd. type to practical use and generating no background fog is obtained. |
