The equipment reaches through the neck flange (2) of a puppet, and has fixed (3) and pivoting (4) arms which project into the body, and which are kept apart by a spring (5) between them. A first lever (7) can rotate about an axis (6) at the upper end of the fixed arm, and has one end which is connected to the upper lip of the puppet. The lever has a slit (9) at roughly its midpoint, through which engages a pin (10) on a second lever (11) which is connected to the pivoting arm. Pressing the latter in the direction of the fixed arm causes the second lever to depress the first lever so that the mouth of the puppet closes, or to lift the first lever so that the mouth opens further, depending on the alignment of the slit. The first lever may be fitted with the slit sloping upwards or downwards.
