TAPE DRIVING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To provide a tape driving device which secures sufficient tape running stability when a high hardness pinch roller is made to run for improving tape driving efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An elastic member is formed on the peripheral outer surface of a capstan 7 with which a tape 6 is brought into pressure contact and the peripheral outer surface of the pinch roller is made of material with hardness higher than that of rubber. The portion of the elastic member brought into contact with the tape in the tape width direction is made smaller than the tape width and the diameter of the elastic member 10 is set to be a little larger than the diameter of the metallic part of the capstan 7. Accordingly a tape driving device is provided which is capable of reducing power consumption and downsizing and offering high reliability at low cost. It produces no change in tape running speed and is very precise. And this high-performance device realizes stable running with no tape slip.
