HIGH-INTENSITY SINGLE-WAVELENGTH LIGHT SOURCE

PURPOSE: To convert theγ-rays radiated in abundance from a radioactive waste in the storage room of a radioactive waste storage facility into a light having a wavelength easy to handle and take out it as the high-intensity light. CONSTITUTION: Multiple scintillators 20 receiving theγ-rays radiated from a radioactive waste and converting them into a light are arranged in the storage room 10 of a radioactive waste storage facility. The light guided from the scintillators 20 via optical fibers 24 is collected by a condensing lens 25 to obtain the high-intensity single-wavelength light 26. Theγ-rays difficult to handle are effectively utilized to stably obtain the high-intensity single-wavelength light 26 at a low cost.
