PURPOSE: To easily select an optimum compression routine from plural compression routines by selecting the priority selecting the compression routine according to the number of times of the use of each compression routine. CONSTITUTION: A compression routine 1 is high in compressibility and takes much compression time. A compression routine 2 is not so high in compressibility, is capable of performing compression in short time and easily performing restoration. A compression routine 3 takes much time over compression and takes little extension time. A host computer 10 inquires of a printer 15 as to the environment on the side of the printer 15 and acquires it. Next, whether this inquiry is successful or not is discriminated. When the contents that the capacity of the CPU of the printer 15 is low or the printer is composed of a simple logic circuit by the constraint condition on the side of the printer 15 as the replay when the inquiry is successful is delivered from the side of the printer 15, the host computer 10 rearranges tables to give priority to the compression routine 2 to cope with this contents. |
