PURPOSE: To enhance mechanical strength and rigidity in spite of a small diameter and to facilitate handling by placing a supporting wire of the same diameter as the diameter of an optical fiber along the optical fiber and integrally coating both. CONSTITUTION: The optical fiber 1 is constituted by providing a bare optical fiber 2 having a diameter of 125μm with a coating layer consisting of a primary layer 3 and a secondary layer 4 and has the diameter of 250μm. One piece of the supporting wire 5 is placed along one piece of the optical fiber 1 in contact and parallel therewith. The outside diameter of the supporting wire 5 is specified to 250μm equal to the outside diameter of the optical fiber 1. The Young's modulus of its longitudinal direction is a high Young's modulus having a range of 1000 to 2500Kg/mm<2> . The optical fiber 1 and the supporting wire 5 are integrally coated by the primary coating layer 6, by which the optical fiber cable ribbon 7 of single number of the coated fiber is obtained. As a result, the optical fiber cable which is sufficiently high in the mechanical strength, such as tensile strength and repetitive bending, and rigidity is obtained.
