COMBUSTION BURNER USED IN MELTING FURNACE IN IRON MAKING OPERATION

PURPOSE: To enable a stable and high efficient combustion of fuel such as fine powder coal or the like to be performed without being influenced by a state in a furnace by a method wherein an axis of a burner has an inclination angle in such a manner that an extremity end of the burner is faced downward in respect to a horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION: An entire combustion burner A is fixed to a furnace wall with an inclination angle ofθof such a degree as one in which an extremity end of the burner at its axis is faced downward in respect to a horizontal direction. A reason why such an application of the inclination angleθis applied consists in the fact that slag generated under meiting of ashes of the fine powder coals is smoothly discharged from an extremity end opening 2 of the burner into the furnace. This inclination angleθis preferably set to have such a value as one in which a tapered part of a pre-combustion chamber 1 is set to be horizontal or inclined downwardly at its extremity end in order to perform a smooth flowing-down operation of the slag in the pre-combustion chamber 1 toward the burner extremity end opening 2. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to perform a stable high efficient combustion of fine powder coal and the like supplied from a tuyere without being influenced by a state in the furnace or the like and thus it is also possible to reduce manufacturing cost of pig iron.
