1,125,154. Substituted benzoxazoles, benzthiazoles and benztriazoles. MITSUI KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 22 June, 1965, No. 26419/65. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C4, C5 and D1] The invention comprises compounds of the general formula in which A represents a benzene, naphthalene or acenaphthene group fused to the 1,2,3-triazole ring, with the provisos that when A represents a benzene group it is substituted by at least one alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or alkoxy group of 1-4 carbon atoms, that when A represents a naphthalene group it is fused at its 1,2 positions with the triazole ring and that when A represents an acenaphthene group it is fused at its 4,5 positions with the triazole ring; R 1 represents hydrogen, chlorine or methyl; R 2 and R 3 , which may be the same or different, represent hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, an alkyl group of 1-8 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group of 1-4 carbon atoms, phenyl or cyclohexyl, or R 2 and R 3 may together form a tetramethylene group attached to 2 adjacent carbon atoms of the benzene ring; and X represents oxygen or sulphur. The compounds may be prepared: (a) by diazotizing a compound of the formula coupling the diazo compound formed with naphthylamine, aminoacenaphthene or aniline whose benzene ring is substituted by at least one alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms or alkoxy group of 1-4 carbon atoms, to form an oaminoazo compound of the formula and thereafter oxidatively ring-closing the compound; (b) by heating a compound of the formula with a compound of the formula giving the product directly, or with a compound of the formula to give a compound of the formula followed by reduction of this compound; or (c) by condensing a compound of the formula with a compound of the formula |
