FIELD: rubber processing. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing rubber, in particular, to investigation of thermooxidation processes proceeding in large-size rubber objects, which can be applied when forecasting retention of quality and operation capability of massive rubber parts. Method consists in stacking flat rubber specimens, isolating the stack from air oxygen, heating and maintenance at predetermined temperature, whereas the stack is sealed on its ends with metal plates and covered from above and from below with the same plates having perforations located in the center and having area 15-20% lesser than specimen surface area to provide oxygen diffusion into stack. Such a structure makes possible investigation of processes proceeding in the borderline region between surface and deeper layers of large-size rubber specimen. Functional possibilities of method are enlarged owing to simultaneously conducting thermal and thermooxidative aging. Accuracy in forecasting retention of quality and operation capability of massive rubber parts is also increased. EFFECT: accelerated and improved testing procedure. |
