The protection incorporates an airbag (8) associated with a support frame. The frame consists of at least two support panels (6, 7). These are fastened to the car body and erected to form the frame, and are supported in this position from the inside by the airbag. The panels are formed by the inner and outer shells of a car body section,such as the inner and outer frame of the collapsible hood case. The airbag has an inflator, consisting of a gas generator or pressure accumulator (10) and an ignition. These are connected to a tilt sensor.
