Treating materials in the form of threads or belts, particularly textiles, with liquids or gases. F--. uses a perforated drum on the outer surface of which is the material to be treated. Greater control and uniformity in the treatment of the material can be achieved. A system of fixed or movable disc-type partitions are used, possibly in conjunction with an axially moving longitudinal spindle so that, the liquid or gas can be fed in the pre-determined amounts, and for controlled times, to the various zones of the cylinder, this control enabling precise regeneration of the treatment of the material across the face of the drum. The various ways in which the necessary rotating seals may be provided, at the shaft/partition functions, are described, together with various ways in which the partitions, and the feed of liquid to the various zones, may be contrived. |
