A fabric layering machine has a carriage (1) which traverses over a surface (2) and carries a roll of fabric (3). A draw-off table (4) below the fabric roll (3) has a guide roller (5a) at one end as well as a take-off device (6) formed by a horizontal feed roller. The fabric roll (3) is supported in a transverse trough (7) which has two limbs (8, 9) and is fixed relative to the table (4). One limb (8) is formed by the periphery of the take-off roller (8) and the other by endless belts (9) inclined downwards towards the take-off roller (8). Also claimed is the above arrangement with at least one air jet (10) in the top surface (4a) of the table (4) directed horizontally in the direction of motion of the fabric (17). The jet is behind the position where the fabric section (11) from the take-off roller (8) reaches the table (4).
