A continuous flow heater has a container (2) which can be sealed with a longitudinal heating chamber (3) in which the components to be heated are introduced through an inlet (4) in the base. The components are extracted from an outlet (5) at the top. There is a bar-like heating insert (7) in the centre of the chamber. A current-fed spiral winding (8) surrounds the insert forming a fluid-tight seal between its outer wall and the inner wall of the chamber. The inner diameter of the chamber and the outer diameter of the insert are constant. The winding wire is circular in section. The chamber has lids at both top (13) and bottom (12).
