The system uses an infrared (IR) transmitter diode (2), which is fixed in a mirrored inner opening (3) of the housing (1). An amplifier/converter unit connected with the detector is provided, together with an indicator unit, for indicating a DC voltage proportional to the received IR intensity. The housing in the region of another endface has a casing (4), designed esp. as a crimping sleeve, for effecting the connection for the amplifier/convert unit. A comparator unit compares the determined IR signal with an intensity reference signal.
