DETECTION DEVICE OF EXHAUST SYSTEM ATMOSPHERIC TEMPERATURE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE: To detect an exhaust system atmospheric temperature and simplify its constitution without installing an exclusive temperature sensor by detecting the resistance value of the heater part of an oxygen concentration sensor and detecting the exhaust system atmospheric temperature of an internal combustion engine based thereon. CONSTITUTION: Oxygen concentration sensors 50, 52 having a detector for detecting the oxygen concentration in an exhaust gas and a heater part for heating the detector by electrifying is installed in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine 10. A resistance value detection means for detecting the resistance value of the heater part 52a of the oxygen concentration sensor 52 and exhaust system atmosphere temperature detection means 52, 54 for detecting the exhaust system atmospheric temperature based on the resistance value detected by this means are provided. In other words, the resistance value of the heater part 52a of the oxygen temperature sensor 52 is detected and the exhaust system atmospheric temperature of the internal combustion engine 10 is detected based thereon. Thereby, the exhaust system atmospheric temperature can be detected without installing an exclusive temperature sensor and consequently its constitution is simplified.
