PURPOSE: To obtain the ceramic sintered compact securing good heat resistance and chemical stability inherent in ceramics and simultaneously having homogeneous porosity. CONSTITUTION: 1. A porous ceramic sintered compact produced by adding fine glass hollow particles in an amount of 0.2-60wt.% to a ceramic, and subsequently sintering the mixture. 2. The glass hollow particles to be added are preferably hollow spherical particles having diameters of 0.5-300μm. 3. Ceramic powder is compounded with the glass hollow particles are further with water, kneaded and subsequently molded, or molded by a compression molding method not adding the water. The produced primary molded product is subsequently sintered at a temperature of at least 700 deg.C to produce the porous ceramic sintered compact.
