<p>PURPOSE: To provide a torque limiter simple in structure with a small number of part items by connecting a first torque transmission member in a torque transmittable state to the inner peripheral side of a ring member, and connecting a second torque transmission member in a torque transmittable state to the outer peripheral side of the ring member through frictional resistance based on the resilience of the ring member. CONSTITUTION: At the time of operating a steering wheel 2, torque is transmitted between a steering shaft 3 and a worm wheel 10 through an elastically deformable ring member 11b. When this transmission torque reaches the limit torque of a torque limiter 11, volume of a cavity part 11b' is reduced by torsional deformation of the ring member 11b. Outer diameter of the ring member 11b becomes small in proportion to a volume decrease quantity, and the outer diameter of an outer ring 11c becomes small. Frictional resistance between the outer ring 11c and the worm wheel 10 therefore becomes small, so that a slip is generated between the worm wheel 10 and the outer ring 11c on the peripheral side of the ring member 11b.</p> |
