TREATMENT OF POLYESTER FIBER

PURPOSE: To impart a polyester fiber with excellent adhesivity to rubber without causing toxicity problem by the multi-stage treatment of a polyester fiber with a treating liquid containing a reaction product of a specific glycidyl compound and a treating liquid containing a resorcinol formaldehyde rubber latex having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION: A polyester fiber is subjected to multi-stage adhesion treatment with a 1st treating liquid containing a blocked polyisocyanate, a rubber latex and a compound produced by reacting (A) a glycidyl compound having isocyanuric acid skeleton of the formula [R1 is glycidyl(oxyethyl); R2 and R3 are each H, glycidyl(oxyethyl) or hydroxyethyl] with (B) a compound having functional group and active hydrogen in the molecule and selected from glycidyl compounds having isocyanuric acid skeleton and expressed by the formula RXH R is an alkyl, hydroxy, carboxy, etc.; X is O or NZ [Z is H or a (hydroxy)alkyl], S or CO2 } and reacting the residual epoxy group with hydrochloric acid and a 2nd treating agent consisting of a resorcinol formaldehyde latex containing a blocked polyisocyanate and/or an ethylene urea compound.
