The braking system has normally open magnetic valves (3) for supplying an anti-locking braking force from the master braking cylinder (1) to the wheel braking cylinders (2) and normally closed magnetic valves (4) for maintaining the pressure in the wheel braking cylinders. When wheel slip is detected the normally open valves are closed and the normally closed valves are opened with the braking fluid fed via a pressure release opening (5) to a pressure reservoir (6). The brake fluid can be fed back from the pressure reservoir to the wheel brake for restoring the braking force via a magnetic pump (P).
