Boot or shoe with top and rear fastening opening slit

The shoe or boot has an instep opening (2) which can be enlarged by an elongated slit along its front which reaches to near the sole. The sides of the slit can be held together by conventional means such as laces or a zip. The instep opening can be further enlarged by a second slit which runs along the rear of the boot and which can also be closed by conventional means. The boot further incorporates a flap (7), at the rear, which is folded up to cover the bottom end of the rear slit to protect it.
