The method responds to the user operating a transmission input key by prompting the user to input the telephone number of the receiving party. The telephone number is then stored and the user is requested to enter a reserved time. The user then inputs the desired outgoing message. The outgoing message for transfer to a receiving party is received and stored. When the reserved time is reached a speech path is connected to the receiving party and the recorded telephone number is read and selected. After detecting a reply tone, the speech synthesises for the outgoing message is transmitted.
