1,054,566. Making containers. CONCH INTERNATIONAL METHANE Ltd. Sept. 9, 1964, No. 36968/64. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F4] Each wall of a container has a plurality of zones in which non-intersecting but meeting corrugations entirely bound an enclosed area, the corrugations extending beyond each enclosed area to the sides of each zone to meet a corrugation in a contiguous zone, the enclosed areas being located in the centres of the zones and the corrugations in each wall meeting those of the contiguous wall at the common edge. In one embodiment a trapezoidal cargo tank 1, Fig. 1, of a cargo ship with tapered sides has its walls or sides constructed of a series of large and small trays welded together. The zones are indicated by broken lines and all are square in the forward end 2, the port side 3 and the starboard side 5, Fig. 2. In the bilge portions 4 the zones are parallelograms. A further embodiment of the tank, Fig. 5 (not shown) has tapered sides and a trunk. In all embodiments, in order that the container is suitable for storage of very cold or very hot liquids, it must be mounted in a housing which should preferably comprise thermal insulation. |
